On Sept. 12, Global Industries Ltd. announced it had agreed to be acquired by Technip SA for US$1.1 billion.
Global is a provider of solutions for offshore construction, engineering, project management, and support services, including pipeline construction, platform installation, and removal, deepwater/SURF installations, IRM, and diving to the oil and gas industry worldwide. Global has 14 offshore construction vessels, including two newly built, leading-edge pipelay vessels.
Technip is a France-based design, engineering and construction company for offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities, globally. Technip employs about 25,000 people, has operations in 48 countries, and operates a fleet of 20 vessels.
The deal is expected to close in early 2012 and is subject to customary closing conditions.
