OFFSHORE engineering and services player Global Industries has submitted the lowest bid to supply Petrobras with a wide range of flexible flowlines and rigid risers for two of the company’s north-eastern projects, writes Fabio Palmigiani.
Global Industries bid close to 270 million reais ($150 million) and edged out Singaporean contractor Swiber, which presented an offer of about 300 million reais, according to market sources.
Superior Offshore was disqualified because its proposal did not meet the specifications required by Petrobras.
A well-placed source told Upstream that the state-controlled oil giant is now going through the technical aspects of the two qualified offers and is expected to declare the winner in the next few weeks.
Petrobras is contracting six different types of flexible lines, ranging in diameter from four inches to 20 inches. The combined lines and rigid risers will replace connections that were made in the 1970s.
The equipment is destined for Petrobras’ Ubarana natural gas field and the Guamare gasoline unit in the Potiguar basin.
The tender was scaled down late last year, when Petrobras removed the Guaricema, Dourado and Camorim fields — located in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin — from the bidding due to budget restrictions.
